On April 10th, Wendy Chu, a political science student and member of the first cohort of University Scholars was awarded the Karen T. Rigg Shining Torch Scholarship for 2013 by Dr. Laura Wankel, Vice President for Student Affairs.

The Karen Rigg Shining Torch Scholarship honors the contributions of Karen Rigg, former Vice President for Student Affairs. Awardees are seen as a shining example within their student organization through their enthusiasm and positive attitude. Only two such awards are granted to first-year students. Wendy has already made signficant contributions to the University Scholars Program, the Writing Club, the Wind Ensemble and the university community writ large. Congratulations, Wendy!
