Lara Scheherazade Milane grew up traveling between London, England and Carbondale, Illinois. She is a dual UK/USA citizen. Lara has a BS in Neuroscience, an MS in Biology, and is now pursuing a PhD in Pharmaceutical Science with a specialization in Drug Delivery Systems. Lara became an IGERT Nanomedicine fellow in September of 2006. Lara is a natural leader inside and outside of the laboratory. Lara is a mentor to her peers and passionate about “giving back” to her community through educational outreach. She developed the IGERT program’s “Introduction to the Nanoworld” outreach platform and is also involved with other K-12 outreach programs on campus. As well as being a creative young scientist who thinks outside of the box, Lara has excellent written and oral communication skills, and is adept at fostering professional relationships and collaborations. Lara dedicates her research and everyday of her life to the loving memory of her twin sister, Samantha Tari Jabr.
