The University Scholars & Office of Fellowships will host an information session on applying for the Goldwater Scholarship. The Barry Goldwater Scholarship is a highly competitive, merit- based award for outstanding students in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering who are interested in pursuing a career in research. Sophomores and juniors who have excellent academic records (a GPA of at least 3.7) and outstanding letters of recommendation) and a demonstrated interest in and potential for careers in these fields are invited to apply. Northeastern can nominate up to 4 students each year. The core of the Goldwater application is the presentation of a compelling research project, clearly and concisely communicated to fellow scientists in two pages. This requires faculty input and multiple revisions.
