From Concept to Market… Navigating the Pathway

The challenges of taking a concept from idea through funding, through development, testing and regulatory approval and then on to market are daunting with major obstacles at each step along the way. I plan to discuss the steps along the path and the obstacles that one might encounter.

Eugene Seymour, M.D., M.P.H., is the CEO of NanoViricides, Inc, a company that specializes in the discovery, development, and commercialization of nanotherapeutics for viral infections including HIV and Ebola.  Dr. Seymour was one of the first doctors to begin actively treating HIV.  In 1986, he was requested by the United States government to establish a testing laboratory and run a large-scale surveillance program for HIV prevalence in the Hispanic population in Los Angeles. In 1989, he founded Saliva Diagnostic Systems Inc. In 1996, he formed a non-profit foundation to fund both testing and training programs for health workers in Asia and Africa. Dr. Seymour has served as a Consultant to the United Nations Global Program on AIDS and was sent to a number of different countries, to interact with local physicians and assist them in setting up testing programs. Dr. Seymour spends his time as a private investor evaluating evolving companies in the field of biotechnology.
