Student Orientation and Family Programs connects families with university resources, helping you navigate and build networks within Northeastern’s global community. We support families throughout their Northeastern experience — including academic, administrative, and personal matters.
We partner with families and support your student by:
- Encouraging communication between families and the university
- Accessing resources to guide students in academic and personal decision-making
- Providing a compassionate, caring, and coordinated crisis response
Each year, we host several programs for family engagement:
- Husky 101 Family Orientation
- Family & Friends Weekend
- Tuesday Talks Family Panels
- Touch of Home Specialty Orders
Husky 101 Family Orientation
Husky 101 Orientation introduces you to campus resources and services that will support your transition into the Northeastern community. Husky 101 is mandatory for newly enrolled first-year and transfer students, and highly encouraged for families.
Family & Friends Weekend

The myNortheastern Family Portal serves as the primary way that Northeastern delivers the tuition bill – families can review and pay online. Other services include access to student account information, such as your student’s academic transcript and Husky Card monetary balance.
Students should fill out this form to provide access to family members to view student records. Once a student has completed the form, an email will be sent to the family member with a claim link to access student account information.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) limits universities and colleges on what can be shared with families in regard to your student, without the student’s clear knowledge and expressed permission to share with others. Before a student is 18 years of age, FERPA gives family members certain rights with respect to their student’s education records. Once the student reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level, these rights transfer to the student.
