Recently, I atteneded the The 2014 MIT BioInnovations Conference. It was an invaluable experience that contributed greatly to my professional development. I had the opportunity to interact with many important players in the healthcare field. As a pharmacy student, it was a particular honor to personally meet the USA president of Eli Lilly, a global pharmaceutical company. The theme of this conference was “Precision Medicine and the Impact of Innovation on Targeted Care.” Although not directly related to my career path, I got a chance to see the variety of stakeholders invested in this field, from corporate executives to small-business entrepreneurs, data analysts, researchers in the biological sciences, and physicians. It made me see the value of collaboration across the disciplines, and encouraged me to look beyond my pharmacy colleagues in creating bigger healthcare solutions.
