Irene Panagopoulos
Biography
Irene Panagopoulos lives in Athens, Greece, where she serves as Managing Director of Magna Marine Inc., a dry bulk shipping company. She is the founder of the Irene Y. Panagopoulos Collection, with works spanning from the 16th century to the present day, and the recently established Irene Y. Panagopoulos Collection Space.
She serves as a Trustee of the Dia Art Foundation, the National Gallery of Greece, and Northeastern University, where she joined the Board of Trustees in 2022. She is a Trustee and resident alumna of the Delfina Foundation (since 2018), an International Council Governing Board Member of Tate Modern in London, a CaMMEA Member of the British Museum, and a member of the Commissioning Council of Whitechapel Gallery. In Athens, she is a Contemporary Art Committee Member of the Museum of Cycladic Art and a member of the Board of Advisors at Tavros Space.
Over the years, she has contributed to numerous contemporary art initiatives, including exhibitions at the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens, the Greek Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, the Athens Biennale, and Documenta. She also serves on the Honorary Committee of We Dream Under The Same Sky, a philanthropic initiative supporting displaced populations through the arts.
