What? When? How? Why?
Four of the most critical questions a human being can ask.
In grade school we are introduced to these questions, and we spend the remainder of our lives mastering the art of asking and answering them. Sometimes, we ask and answer them subconsciously without even slowing down enough to recognize that our actions result from our micro-processed conclusions. Other times, something rises to a level of importance that methodically working through the equation of What? When? How? Why? is useful.
This is one of those times.
The question to attend RISE, Northeastern’s Research, Innovation and Scholarship Expo may not be life and death, but it certainly can be life-altering.
So let’s take a closer look.
What is RISE?
RISE is where over 400 of Northeastern’s solution oriented innovations are on display. Where researchers convey the value of their work in layman’s terms and illustrate its commercial, life-bettering potential. Where lab directors discuss research aims and lab capabilities. Where start ups showcase scalability and profitability.
RISE, however, is different for each person.
If you are a Northeastern researcher presenting at RISE — RISE is exposure.
If you are an industry representative attending RISE — RISE is discovery.
If an angel investor — RISE is auspicious.
At the end of the day, the question “What is RISE?” receives the answer: “Opportunity. Manifold Opportunity.”

When is RISE?
The answer to this question is straightforward: RISE is April 13, 2017.
The exhibition is open from 10am to 2pm followed by the RISE Awards from 3-5pm. For attendees over 21 years of age there is a Private Reception from 2-3pm.
Attendees are welcome to arrive anytime between 10am-2pm. We recommend giving yourself at least 2hrs for perusing the innovations and connecting with researchers, fellow attendees, RISE Judges, and Northeastern leadership.
How do I attend RISE?
This is even simpler than the last question. To attend RISE, just register, show up, and check in. Simple.
RISE is free to attend, but experience proves it to be invaluable.
Why attend RISE?
Why? The most complex question, the most pertinent.
If RISE is opportunity, then attending RISE is the starting point for actualizing opportunity, realizing potential. Attendance becomes the concrete manifestation, the seizing of opportunity.
When you walk the RISE floor, you discern research trends. You hear intriguing value propositions. You meet recruitable talent. You discover solutions to pressing problems. You identify keen investments. You connect with Northeastern leadership and industry executives.
In sum, Why attend RISE? Because you gain Access to Opportunity.
