Assistant Teaching Professor
Earlene Avalon is an Assistant Teaching Professor and lead faculty for the Bachelor of Science in Health Management and Health Sciences programs, where she teaches undergraduate-level courses in public health and healthcare management. In her more than 15 years in health management and academia, Dr. Avalon has worked as the Assistant Dean of Health Professions at Bunker Hill Community College, as a Student Development Officer at the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers, Chair of the Parent Advisory Group for Massachusetts General Hospital for Children’s Connect 4 Health project, and most recently as the Director of Nursing Diversity initiatives at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Avalon has served on the Board of Directors for the YWCA Boston and New England Sinai Hospital. She is an active member and on the Board of Directors of the Boston Club, an organization founded in 1976 and dedicated to diversifying leadership on corporate and nonprofit boards. Dr. Avalon is actively involved with various community-based organizations that are committed to the academic and professional development of underrepresented populations in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related disciplines.
