Through the “my Marketplace” located on myNEU, you can order a new computer directly from either Dell (Windows) or Apple (OSX). The computer will arrive with just the basic operating system – computers ordered directly from the vendor are not configured with the Northeastern image. An appointment, requested through myHelp, or by calling 617.373.4357, will be necessary to schedule the installation of the Northeastern image by the Service Desk staff. The Northeastern image provides faculty and staff members will automatic secure access to the Northeastern application suite and other shared network resources simply by logging in to the new computer with their personal myNEU credentials.
Please note: Migrating an existing NUnet Windows XP computer to Windows 7, or imaging an existing Mac, is a very involved process requiring significant preparation and pre-planning. Prior to imaging, data must be backed up. The computer is wiped clean and the operating system re-installed with the NUnet image. Data is then restored from the back up after the image is configured.
Information Technology Services maintains and updates a set of standard NUnet images, specific to supported models, that are installed on Northeastern machines. A list of currently supported Northeastern computer models is provided on the Information Technology Services website.
