Through the “Tech Marketpace” located on myNEU, a NUnet PC can be ordered directly through Dell. The PC will arrive with the NUnet image pre-configured and a faculty or staff member will have automatic secure access to the Northeastern application suite* and other shared network resources simply by logging in to the new computer with their personal myNEU credentials. (*For a list of software available on NUnet computers, go to Software > Available Software.)
Through the “Tech Marketplace” located on myNEU, a Mac computer can be ordered directly from Apple. Mac computers do not come pre-configured with the NUnet image installed from Apple. An appointment, requested through myHelp, will be necessary to schedule the installation of the Mac NUnet image by IS Customer Services staff.
Please note: Migrating an existing NUnet Windows XP computer to Windows 7, or imaging an existing Mac, is a very involved process requiring significant preparation and pre-planning. Prior to imaging, data must be backed up. The computer is wiped clean and the operating system re-installed with the NUnet image. Data is then restored from the back up after the image is configured.
Information Services maintains and updates a set of standard NUnet images, specific to supported models, that are installed on Northeastern machines. A list of currently supported Northeastern computer models is provided on the Information Services website.
