Icon Help and Support (Service Desk)Description
myBackup is a fee-based desktop backup service provided to Northeastern University Faculty and Staff to protect the work data on their NU owned computers. Each user has an unlimited amount of space allotted to backup files. Users can select (with the exception of certain system files) which folders and files to back up to a set of secure servers hosted in the cloud. Files can later be restored if something happens to the computer.
Functionality/Benefits
myBackup is a locally installed application that provides users secure storage of backed up files. Since this is a local installation, the user is able to backup files on a predetermined schedule or on an as needed basis and restore files as required. Both Mac and Windows computers are supported. Users can also access a web interface to retrieve backed up files when working remotely.

Service is available 24 x 7 x 365, except during planned maintenance and upgrades.
Support
Support is provided by Information Technology Services during normal university business hours of 8:30am – 4:30pm Monday – Friday. To obtain assistance with this service, please contact the Service Desk at 617.373.4357 (xHELP).
Charge
This service costs $108 per year per computer.
Request for Service
Users must receive financial approval before installing myBackup. To request this service, users should go to the myHelp Service Catalog and select ‘myBackup’ under ‘Help and Support Services’. Upon receiving financial approval, ITS will provide installation instructions and installation support as needed.
