REGIONAL CEO & DEAN
Aliza Lakhani is responsible for the vision and execution of Northeastern’s first international campus, located in Toronto. She is driven by her passion to change the world of education, one lifelong learner at a time. She has deep expertise as a transformational leader within the finance, technology, and nonprofit industries. Prior to Northeastern, Lakhani was head of business development and international at the DMZ, now the #1 ranked university tech incubator in the world. Under Lakhani’s direction, the DMZ tripled annual revenue through corporate partnerships with Fortune 500 companies and expanded into global markets. Lakhani has worked for years in revenue-generating, strategic, and advisory roles at Royal Bank of Canada, JPMorgan Chase, and Bank of Montreal in Toronto and New York. She started her career on the trading floor in fixed income sales and trading. Lakhani serves on the advisory boards of C.D. Howe Institute Human Capital Council, #MoveTheDial, and Wealthsimple Foundation. She was previously chair of the board of directors for the Rexdale Women’s Center. Lakhani holds a bachelor’s of mathematics with distinction from the University of Waterloo and an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business.
CAMPUS OPERATIONS MANAGER
Rue Quizon provides overall management of the Toronto campus facility including business operations, IT, finance, human resources, events, and student and visitor services. She ensures that the campus runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.
Quizon earned her bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in geography from Carleton University. Prior to joining Northeastern, she worked in Ottawa, Africa, and the Middle East. She is an avid traveler, a ukulele enthusiast, and enjoys a good cup of coffee. Quizon is currently pursuing her master's in project management through Northeastern.
ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ACADEMIC AND STUDENTS AFFAIRS
Evan Clarke manages student experience at the Toronto campus and works with Northeastern faculty members to ensure high-quality program delivery. He is also the main point of contact for Toronto-based students, helping them access to the resources that they need. Prior to coming to Northeastern, Clarke taught philosophy at Boston College, where he earned a doctorate in 2014. The focus of his philosophical research is German philosophy between the late 18th and early 20th century. Information on Clarke’s publications can be found here. He is also a graduate of the University of Toronto and the University of Guelph.
Avnish Patel manages the marketing and enrollment marketing portfolio for the Northeastern Toronto campus.
With over seven years of experience working in Canada’s education, technology, startup, and finance sectors, Avnish joins the newly formed Toronto team with a strong and agile background in marketing and digital marketing. Previously, he was the marketing and digital officer for the DMZ, Ryerson University’s globally recognized accelerator for high-impact tech startups. Notable achievements in this role included the strategic planning, development, and execution of a global brand awareness and recruitment campaign, a Canada-wide brand refresh, and a one-of-a-kind influencer/advocate marketing campaign, which led to significant increases in brand engagement and application conversion rates in North America.
Patel holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing and commerce from Ryerson University and an advanced honour’s business administration and marketing management diploma from Sheridan College.
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF STUDENT RECRUITMENT AND ENROLLMENT
Jordan Becker is a goal-oriented and results-driven leader with an eye for detail and a passion for improvement. He is an articulate communicator with strong business acumen developed over a decade of professional experience in technology, business development, marketing, financial services, and hospitality.
Becker joins the newly formed Toronto team with a strong background in higher education. His most recent role was as partnership lead for the DMZ (Ryerson University’s globally recognized accelerator for tech startups). Some notable achievements in this role include a complete redevelopment of the organization’s external qualification process, as well as the strategic planning and execution of a two-week U.S. roadshow that brought top-performing Canadian startups to New York, Boston, and San Francisco to connect with potential customers and investors.
Becker holds a bachelor of commerce from Ryerson’s Ted Rogers School of Management with a major in entrepreneurship & strategy and a minor in marketing management. He is currently pursuing the Project Management Professional certification through Ryerson University and the Project Management Institute.
