The Spring Institute will take place from 9AM to 5PM, Monday, June 25 through Wednesday, June 27 at the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute in Boston.
The MVP Institute is a three-day, highly interactive training. During the first part of the training, participants experience the MVP curriculum for themselves, providing them with knowledge on the bystander approach to gender-based violence prevention. These sessions expose participants to units on Leadership, Battering, Sexual Assault/Rape, Gender Role, Sexual Harassment and Homophobia/Heterosexism. Each unit is participatory and involves a variety of educational approaches (large group, small group, single gender breakouts, media examples and discussion-based). In the second component of the training, participants prepare to train their others in the MVP approach by practicing facilitation of MVP with other participants. Participants who complete the entire training receive certification to use the curriculum with members of their organization and community.
