#LoveBoston Interfaith Community Service is a crucial part of carrying out the mission of the Center for Spirituality, Dialogue, and Service. We work closely with a committee of students to plan monthly volunteer service experiences. The name #LoveBoston highlights the myriad ways in which students through voluntarism express their love for Boston, and also bring their love and compassion from Boston across the nation and around the globe.
For several years, Northeastern has participated in President Obama’s Interfaith and Community Service Challenge, and the last two years we have been humbled to be recognized in the President’s Honor Roll. We have been invited to present our work at the President’s Interfaith and Community Service Challenge Gathering in Washington DC in Fall 2016 with students and staff.
In recent years, #LoveBoston projects have included:
Service projects coinciding with the September 11th Anniversary, Dr. Martin Luther King Day, and Earth Day
Fundraising and humanitarian relief work with NUDay SyriaBoston homeless outreach
Meals and seasonal celebrations for seniors at Morville House
Environmental stewardship with the Emerald Necklace Conservancy
Alternative Spring Break trips
