Remove Apple Flashback Malware

Apple has released a tool to remove the Flashback Malware

Over 600,000 Apple Macs have been infected with the Flashback Malware. This malware takes advantage of an unpatched vulnerability in Java on the Mac. Thankfully Apple has released patches to fix this vulnerability. (see below)

The Flashback Trojan uses a Java vulnerability to enable the web browser to automatically run an applet that downloads and installs a malicious program to the computer. The malicious program connects the computer to a botnet.

  • Run and install the Flashback Malware removal tool from Apple
  • Keep your operating system up to date with patches
  • Install anti-virus for Mac OS
