Welcome Letter From Dean Peter Temes

Welcome Letter From Dean Peter Temes

Dear Students,

What a pleasure to welcome you all to the Northeastern-Seattle campus for the new academic year! For some of you, this is a return to your home campus. For others – including me – this is the beginning of a new academic year at a new academic home.

I’m here at Northeastern-Seattle because of you. I have the wonderful privilege to help support the faculty and staff who teach you, learn with you and learn from you; who work hard to be your partners in deepening understanding of all that we study and teach; and who all find delight and a renewed sense of purpose when you return for a new season of studies.

I’ve been in a number of different seats at a number of great universities – as a student, as a faculty member, as an administrator, and even more recently as a parent of university students – and I have to confess that my favorite role of all has been as a student. I believe that you are sitting in the very best seat at the table.

The privilege to work hard at learning practical skills and exploring big ideas about the ways the world works is precious, and enviable. I hope we have that experience together this school year, and that you’ll be bold enough to reach out and share your personal story with me when you have the time.

As the new dean at Northeastern University-Seattle, I’m delighted to be your colleague in the great enterprise of learning, and I feel quite lucky to be here.

Best Regards,

Peter
