Next CS Seminar to address ‘new world of computer security’
Join us Thursday, April 21 for CS Seminar: Adversarial Testing of Protocol Implementations, the third discussion in our Computer Science Seminar Series!
Computer and network security is a topic that generates frequent worry and conversation. For Cristina Nita-Rotaru, a new professor in Northeastern’s College of Computer and Information Science, it’s a topic she’s deeply familiar with after 17 years researching how to keep information both accessible and safe.
“There’s a story we tell students when teaching security. You take a computer, and you lock it in a safe. You have a secure system. But what good is it? To be useful, computers must interact with each other through network protocols, which opens the door for attacks. So you have to weigh and measure tradeoffs.” – Read more about Cristina Nita-Rotaru at news@Northeastern: The brave new world of computer security
In our next Computer Science Seminar on April 21, Cristina will discuss one of the most difficult problems in protocol design and implementation is to ensure that implementations of network protocols and distributed services are compliant with their specifications and not vulnerable to attacks.
