Wireless Recharging Pacemaker
Lead Presenter: Emile Bourgeois
Currently any pacemaker used today has a battery attached to ensure proper operation. Even though they are efficient and long lasting batteries, they will eventually need to be replaced. To replace the battery and pacemaker, surgery is once again needed. The purpose of this abstract is to attempt to remove this procedure. This would result in less time in the hospital for the patient and better use of doctors’ time. æTo make this work, we envision using wireless recharging technologies adapted for the human body. This is very complex and we are just in the beginning stages of our research.
