Analyzing performance of structural systems of bridges is necessary for optimizing maintenance and repair cost. Due to increasing number of these systems reaching critical conditions, under risk and uncertainty circumstances, advanced analytical methods are not only beneficial, but essential. The outcome of such methods leads to optimal decision-making regarding maintenance—”repair and replace”—of the structure during the life-cycle in terms of schedule and type of action considering system requirements, structure specification, as well as available budget. As a continuation of previous related works, which are focused on replace strategies, this research pursues an approach for applied policies and strategies for optimizing repair and replacement in bridge maintenance. The aim of this research is to propose a multi-objective method for optimizing the cost for bridge repair and replacement using performance indicator – system reliability index.
