Dr. Wei Gao is a molecular microbiologist focusing on understanding how certain pathogens gain antibiotics resistance and cause hospital-acquired infections. In addition, he is interested in how the pathogens colonize with human microbiota.
Wei did his Ph.D. at Monash University in 2016, followed by a two-year postdoctoral period at the Peter Doherty Institute in the University of Melbourne. During the time, he extensively studies S. aureus small RNAs and involved in the study related to alcohol tolerance hospital-acquired Enterococcus faecium. Since then he joined the Lemon Lab in Forsyth Institute, Harvard School of Dental Medicine and currently focuses on the S. aureus upper respiratory colonization.
