Peter Benda is a senior consultant with Partners in Performance, where he works primarily with mining clients to improve operations. He has been in business leadership roles since 1991, and worked as an aeronautical engineer in advanced product development prior to that. He has founded or co-founded three startups, was an executive at Capital One Financial as Director of Knowledge Management, and has been a management consultant for most of his professional career. He has worked for Partners in Performance, A.T. Kearney, McKinsey, and as a sole practitioner. Areas of expertise include operations improvement, supply chain strategy, workforce productivity, and start up strategy. Clients have including mining, financial services, utilities, manufacturing, and state agencies. His startups focused on commercializing technologies related to truckload freight logistics, real estate investment management, and materials development (a nanoparticle magnet material as a substitute for rare earth magnets). Prior to receiving his MBA and MA at Wharton/Lauder, he was an aeronautical engineer, and developed drones. He received his MSAA in fluid dynamics from the University of Washington, where he also performed research related to fluid and heat transfer properties of a material to be used in a solar energy system. He received BS and BA degrees (physics-engineering and German) from Washington and Lee University. Peter is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Peter has several patents related to logistics optimization and portfolio/investment management. Peter has lived and worked extensively in Canada, Europe, Latin America, Australia, and Africa.
