Editor, Trends in Biotechnology
Matt is the editor of the journal Trends in Biotechnology, the leading reviews journal in useful biology. Trends in Biotechnology covers a wide scope of applied biology, including bioprocess engineering, genome editing, biomaterials, biofabrication, and the ethical and legal frameworks surrounding biotech. Matt is also the deputy editor of CrossTalk, the Cell Press blog, and the producer of the Cell Press Podcast.
Before joining Cell Press, Matt was a postdoctoral researcher in Northeastern’s Barnett Institute, where he worked with Adam Hall on developing chemometric analysis protocols for arson and explosives evidence. Matt received a BS in chemical engineering from Georgia Tech and a PhD in chemical engineering from UC Berkeley, where his thesis project focused on the antimicrobial applications of ambient-condition plasma.
