Junjun Gao, Ph.D., is a Sr. Associate Director of External Innovation at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma, based in Cambridge, MA. He is responsible for the identification and establishment of research collaborations with academic institutes and biotechs for and beyond BI’s core therapeutic areas. Prior to his current position, Junjun has spent eight years at Roche Pharma Research and Early Development in roles with increasing responsibility. He was the Group Leader of Biochemistry in the Discovery and Translational Areas of Infectious Diseases and also served as a project leader for several antiviral and antibacterial discovery programs. Junjun obtained his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from University of Texas at Austin studying regulation of RNA metabolism in E. coli and did his postdoc work at UCSF/Genentech for engineering conformation-specific antibody against Caspase-1.
