Jake Harrison is Senior Manager of Open Innovation for Samsung Strategy and Innovation Center (SSIC). He is based in Boston, MA and works to connect Samsung’s US R&D and investment teams to external partners, especially university sponsored research, consortium memberships, university spin-outs, and student internships. Jake started with Samsung in 2011 as a technology scout and analyst focused on biotech. In his current role with SSIC he works with new business creation teams, R&D, and Samsung’s CVC groups to find great new partners and opportunities.
Prior to joining Samsung, Jake was a researcher in the biotech industry. He spent 5 years as a Senior Scientist with startups working on the genetic engineering of microbes to produce bio-based replacements for fuels and petro-chemicals. Jake was a post-doctoral fellow at Brandeis where he was supported by a fellowship from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He holds a Ph.D. from Duke and a BS from Brown. His first visit to Northeastern was in ~1986 to see Reggie Lewis play.
