Developing a housing prototype to suit the needs of people is difficult. æPeople inherently have different needs, and in architecture, you have to account for that and offer different options to meet these various needs. My housing prototype, offers live/work spaces, studio apartments, two bedroom, and 4 bedroom layouts. æIt is a multistory walkup constructed primarily of wood with a concrete foundation level. æThe prototype is divided in half by a circulation zone, which provides two means of egress from each unit. æIn traditional walkup apartments, you have doors on either side of a landing. æHowever, I looked to provide individual landings for each unit. æThis then informed the space on the inside of each unit. æThe purpose of this was to provide a sense of privacy and ownership to each occupant.
