2018 Important Freshman/N.U.in Dates

Wednesday, January 3: Move-in
Students will move into their assigned housing.

Thursday, January 4: Parent & Family Orientation – CANCELLED
Due to inclement weather, the Thursday, January 4th Parent/Family Orientation has been cancelled.

Sunday, January 21: Student Orientation – NEW DATE

Sunday, January 21: International Freshman Student Session – NEW DATE
The mandatory International Freshman Student session, hosted by the Office of Global Services, is scheduled for Sunday, January 21. This session will lead directly into mandatory Freshman Student Orientation, hosted by the Office of Student Orientation and Parent/Family Programs. View the updated program schedule >>

Friday, January 5–Friday, January 12: Welcome Week
Experience Welcome Week, a week dedicated to new students in which we provide an array of academic and social programs and a host of opportunities to explore and experience the campus community and Boston!


Freshman/N.U.in Orientation Program

It is mandatory for first-year undergraduate students who begin in the spring semester to attend a Student Orientation session before the start of classes. You’ll meet your classmates and learn the ins-and-outs of campus life. This program will introduce you to the university, and provide you with the necessary resources and tools to help you successfully transition into the Northeastern student community, as well as into your new city, Boston.

N.U.in students, Student Orientation hosted by the Office of Student Orientation and Parent/Family Programs will be your third and final orientation:

1. Pre-departure Orientation hosted by the N.U.in Program
N.U.in Pre-departure Orientation is designed to introduce you to N.U.in policies and procedures, increase your familiarity with N.U.in locations, and meet your classmates and N.U.in staff. Workshops and sessions include culture acclimation, safety and security while studying abroad, N.U.in policies, academic advising, goal-setting, and team-building.

2. On-site Orientation hosted by the N.U.in Program
This orientation will acclimate you to your destination university/college.

3. Student Orientation hosted by the Office of Student Orientation and Parent/Family Programs
Student Orientation provides you the opportunity to learn more about Northeastern’s community, campus resources and services, and campus involvement and engagement, as well as confirm your spring classes! You’ll enjoy reuniting with your N.U.in classmates, and begin exploring campus and your new home, Boston!


Transfer and Veteran Orientation Programs

Wednesday, January 3: Transfer and Veteran Student Orientation
Transfer and Veteran students will attend a mandatory, one-day Orientation program, providing the opportunity to learn more about Northeastern’s community, campus resources and services, and campus involvement and engagement, as well as confirm spring classes!

Thursday, January 4: Parent & Family Orientation – CANCELLED
Due to inclement weather, the Thursday, January 4th Parent/Family Orientation has been cancelled.

International Transfer Student Orientation
Hosted by the Office of Global Services
Global Pathways and American Classroom students are not required to participate.
