Collaborating Across Borders

On September 30, 2015 the IOH Team participated in a panel and two poster presentations at the fifth annual Collaborating Across Borders Conference, in Roanoke, V. The panel presentation, entitled “Cooperative Education: A Transprofessional Education Model for Oral Health and Primary Care Practice Integration” was presented in collaboration with Northeastern faculty & students and Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. The purpose of the presentation was to describe an innovative cooperative education model designed to develop core oral health clinical competencies in primary care practice.  Two posters were also  presented: “Breaking Barriers: Dental Providers Training Non-dental Providers How to Perform an Oral Health Risk Assessment,” co-authored by Lori Giblin, MS, RDH, and Lori Rainchuso, MS, RDH of Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, MCPHS University; and “Say Ahh! A Blended Interprofessional Education Approach for First-year Health Science Students.” The conference featured a broad spectrum of interprofessional activities across education, practice, and research contexts.  Visit the official conference website to learn more here: http://www.cabvroanoke.org.
