The lads headed down to Albany looking to reverse their 0-4 skid in ECRC play. Fortune struck early as Liam Taylor put one in and Darren Chan slotted the kick. This gave the dogs a 7-0 lead. However, Albany answered before the end of the half to make it 7-5 at halftime. With their season on the line, Coach Tubridy urged his players to start performing, and the boys came out firing on all cylinders in the second half.
Dante Pierantozzi started the action by streaking down the middle of the field and burning the Albany defense in a footrace to the try zone. Nolan Currie and Matt Larouche did a little kick and chase which ended in Larouche touching it down in the corner. Sean McElhinney bulldozed through the Albany line to add a try of his own, and when the lead was safe, Kai Killebrew added on one more for extra security with a quick tap and go. Darren Chan was automatic, making all 5 conversion kicks as Northeastern won 35-5. Man of the Match was Freddie Fennessey, as he grinded all game and helped secure rucks all over the field.
The B side looked to build off of the success of the A side and did so early with new boy Niall Carlson putting one down in the corner. This would prove to be an omen, as Niall would tack on two more tries all within the first half, using his blazing speed to simply outpace defenders. Other try scorers were Jonty MacDonald, Max Brits (2), and Fraser Morrison, as B side cruised to an easy 41-5 victory. The lads went home with two wins in their pocket and smiles all around.
