2016 Alumni Weekend Recap

This year, NURFC welcomed our alumni back for a weekend full of events and a friendly 15s game. It all kicked off on Friday morning (June 3rd) at Brookline Golf Club at Putterham. Old and new dogs mixed for a quick 18 on the links before heading off for the Red Sox game to watch the Sox take on the Blue Jays. After the baseball game, everyone headed to the nearby Baseball Tavern for a few drinks and to catch up with past and present players.

On Saturday, the dogs went over to their home turf of Parsons Field for a friendly match between the current dogs and the Northeastern Old Boys. We had the numbers to go full 15s, and it was great to see the dogs, both old and new, get a good run out and have some fun on the pitch. While the NOBs came out to play, the young After two twenty minute halves, the dogs decided to call it a day and head to Connors for a few post game snacks and refreshments. At Connors, the dogs watched and cheered for the Mystic River Rugby Club in the D1 Club National Championship, and were ecstatic to see Northeastern alumni help the Mystics pull out a victory and win the national championship.

We’d like to thank all of our alumni for coming out and making it a great weekend. The numbers were fantastic at all of the events and we definitely look forward to hosting you guys again next year. Without the support from the NOBs, our club can’t run as smoothly as it does. Thank you to everyone who helped make this weekend possible, especially Dave Wedge, who spearheaded the whole weekend and was our referee for the Saturday match. See everyone next year!
