Nancy Nager is a healthcare expert with extensive experience in general management, strategic planning, marketing, operations, technology, budgeting, fiscal affairs, regulatory requirements, and business development

Ms. Nager served on the Board of Directors of Candela Laser Corporation, a 130 million dollar medical device company (NASDAQ:CLZR) from 1999 to 2010 at which time the board approved the company’s acquisition and merger to an international medical device company. She was a member of the Audit Committee, Nominating Committee and Compensation Committee. Ms. Nager currently serves on not for profit and trade Boards.

Ms. Nager is the founder, president and chief executive officer of Specialized Billing Services and Specialized Healthcare Services, divisions of the parent company SBSC, Inc., a leading provider of medical/behavioral health care services to the elderly and disabled populations in New England and medical billing services nationally. In this capacity, she is in charge of all strategic planning and development for this successful business and has great expertise in recognizing and building on key value components for maximum efficiency and potential. Her understanding of the health care industry, insurer systems and reimbursement rules and regulations, as well as changing strategies in healthcare models offers a valuable perspective on future oriented planning and programming.

Most recently, Ms. Nager expanded the company’s services to include consultation to hospitals and other healthcare venues nationally in need of turnaround expertise. Many client referrals have been initiated by both financial and compliance deficits and have been managed under a Corporate Integrity Agreement with the DOJ as well as with a variety of regulatory agencies and the Office of the OIG.

During Ms. Nager’s tenure at Candela, she gained experience in the manufacturing and sales of medical devices both nationally and internationally.

Based in Newton, MA, Specialized was founded by Ms. Nager in 1990 in response to the growing concomitant needs of the complicated medical/behavioral elderly population and the changing trends in health care. Specialized’s core service areas include the delivery of consultative behavioral health services to a network of long-term care facilities throughout New England, management of inpatient medical/psychiatry programs for hospitals nationally, and both medical and psychiatric home care services. Specialized also has developed many contractual relationships with managed care groups to deliver crisis intervention and post hospitalization outreach services. Other Specialized programs have included outpatient services and advanced practice nurse trainee internships.

Ms. Nager brings a team of professionals to each venture she pursues. Her understanding of healthcare services and business practices along with her creativity has brought an essential component to the industry. Specialized’s’ team offers the knowledge base necessary to provide the right information to its clients and helps to ensure appropriate services. The consulting component also assists the client in the development of systems that support the success of their business activities.

Prior to founding Specialized, Ms. Nager was the Chief Operating Officer of Charles River Hospital in Wellesley, MA where she was responsible for the day-to-day operations of a 62-bed psychiatric hospital with revenues of approximately12 million a year. Subsequently Ms. Nager became a corporate consultant for Charles River’s parent corporation, Community Care Systems, Inc. where she worked on a number of special projects with the owner of the corporation.

Ms. Nager is a Master’s prepared registered nurse with an advanced degree in psychiatric nursing, an important factor in her success in creating cost effective and high quality, compassionate services for health care providers and patients. She also offers a unique clinical/fiscal interface in her approach to business and business development. She is a licensed nursing home administrator, a member of The Boston Club for Executive Women, the Massachusetts Nursing Association and the Healthcare Business Management Association.

Ms. Nager has received several honors, speaks on health care issues, and has been interviewed in the media. Ms. Nager earned a Master of Science degree in Psychiatric Nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Boston University. Ms. Nager resides in Newton, MA.
