One of the goals of The Program is to foster and develop a strong community among its members. USYD and staff collaborate to plan weekly free or low-cost activities, which vary year-to-year.

In the past, students have participated in the following types of activities:

  • Footy games, where students learn Australian Rules Football, a combination of rugby and football
  • Cook-off competitions to showcase cooking skills learned during the semester
  • Open Mic Night to show off talents and cheer on others

Student Organizations & Groups

The University of Sydney Union provides a number of student programs including live shows, a variety show, art competitions, and start-up competitions. In addition, Australia: USYD students have the opportunity to join any of the over 200 clubs and societies at the University.


Sydney’s public transportation system features a vast network of train, bus, and ferry services. students have easy and convenient access to a number of train and bus stations along the University of Sydney’s campus, which allow for quick trips to various areas around the city and beyond. Opal cards are the easiest way to pay for travel on public transport around the city.
