Activities

One of the goals of the N.U.in Program is to foster and develop a strong community among its members. SUT and N.U.in staff collaborate to plan activities vary year-to-year.

In the past, students have participated in the following types of activities:

  • Footy games, where students learn Australian Rules Football, a combination of rugby and football
  • Cook-off competitions to showcase cooking skills learned during the semester
  • Open Mic Night to show off talents and cheer on others

Student Organizations & Groups

N.U.in Australia: SUT students have access to the activities, events, clubs, and societies organized by the Swinburne Student Amenities Association (SSAA).

Students also have access to the Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre, a new facility five minutes from residences that houses a gym, heated outdoor pool, and fitness classes. Students can swim for free with their student ID card, and can take advantage of fitness classes and gym facilities for a fee.

Transportation

Melbourne’s public transportation system is extensive and easy to navigate, comprised of trams, trains, and buses. The Glenferrie Train Station is located next to the Swinburne University Residences, which makes it convenient to travel into the Melbourne city center about a 10-minute ride away. Stores, cafes, and entertainment also surround the train station area. Myki cards are the easiest way to pay for trips between Hawthorn and Melbourne.
