Here is a sampling of our government and civic engagement programs:
|Master of Professional Studies in Geographic Information Technology||Understanding and visualizing geographic data that solve problems and identify and interpret patterns are essential to succeed in positions such as surveyors, mapping analysts, GIT developers, and photogrammetrists. This field requires the analysis of cartographic principles and recognizing the impact on economic, ethical, and legal issues as they relate to geographic information. Designed to give you a hands-on approach, the Master of Professional Studies in Geographic Information Technology builds your educational foundation in database development, system implementation, remote sensing, and spatial recognition using GIS software and tools.||Provide hands-on experience with software from ESRI, the industry leader in GIS; improve the understanding of Internet GIS; explore the fundamentals of remote sensing; secure foundational skills in project management, system implementation, database development, and implementation; evaluate the theoretical, mathematical, and computational foundations of GIS; learn to effectively interpret and apply geographic information; analyze cartographic principles; study the legal, economic, and ethical issues associated with GIS; and examine practical applications of GIS to support geographic inquiry and decision making.|
|Master of Public Administration||Our program combines theoretical foundations with practical skills to prepare students to be effective in a dynamic and increasingly diverse public affairs environment. Aimed at professionals seeking management and leadership careers in the public or nonprofit sectors, the MPA program offers maximum flexibility in scheduling, as well as engaged interactions with faculty and fellow students.||The MPA is directed toward developing the analytical, conceptual, and practical competencies required for successful careers in public administration. The ultimate goal is to prepare students to be effective leaders and managers in a dynamic and increasingly diverse professional environment.|
|Master of Science in Criminal Justice||Designed for professionals in law enforcement, public courts, private security, and corrections organizations, the Master of Science in Criminal Justice provides a path to excellence for leaders in criminal justice. The program’s core curriculum covers areas such as leadership theories and practices, legal decision making, current and emerging anticrime strategies, and the theoretical, ethical, and constitutional foundations of American criminal justice institutions. Beyond the core curriculum, students complete operational courses focused on management, planning, finance, and research.||Gain a better understanding of the increasingly complex criminal justice environment; understand the short- and long-term benefits of ethical decision making; identify and apply leadership theories and practices that contribute to the commitment of an effective, efficient, and equitable administration of public safety; evaluate major substantive topics and criminal behavior trends, including street violence, gangs, guns, drugs, human trafficking, terrorism, and cyber crime; examine current and emerging anticrime strategies, such as community policing, intelligence-led policing, and multijurisdictional intelligence fusion operations; and discover how technology can be utilized to prevent and respond to criminal activity.|
|Master of Science in Global Studies and International Relations||As traditional borders of commerce, communication, and politics are replaced with a dynamic global web of cross-cultural and cross-sector relationships, the need for professionals with international studies and global relations expertise is growing. The program’s core curriculum focuses on economic, political, cultural, and business theories and topics as they relate to the global world. Complementing the core curriculum are five degree concentrations: Conflict Resolution, Development and Global Health, Diplomacy, International Economics and Consulting, and Global Student Mobility.||Study global issues from government, private and nonprofit viewpoints; develop practical expertise in one of the world’s six major regions; learn from faculty with decades of experience as ambassadors, foreign service officers, and diplomats; prepare for a leadership role in areas like nonprofit management, business and industry, education, banking, consulting and foreign service; and travel abroad with your classmates for an international field study for firsthand research.|
