TA and RA Positions

Many professors actively seek Research Assistants (RAs) and Teaching Assistants (TAs) during any given academic quarter. Check the Weekly Wire for announcements.

RAs assist professors with their legal research, including assessment of existing empirical work, data collection, writing reports and memoranda, and statistical analyses of large data sets.

TAs assist professors with teaching assignments, most often the large 1L lecture-style classes.

Credit and Compensation

  • If you would like to do it for credit, please speak to the instructor and fill out the Independent Study Form.
  • If you would like to do it for pay, you need to have federal work study. You then would work with the faculty or their assistant to hire you through the Student Employment Office.

How to Apply

Professors often initiate contact with students who have excelled in their courses, but students may also inquire as to a professor’s needs. Outstanding academic credentials and intellectual ability are required.
