PreLaw Magazine4.11.19 —  In recognition of its national leadership in experiential learning, Northeastern University School of Law has been ranked #1 for practical training by preLaw/The National Jurist. This is the fifth year in a row that Northeastern has held the #1 spot.

Northeastern law students complete 1,500 hours of full-time, supervised work through the school’s signature Cooperative Legal Education Program. The co-op program includes 1,500 employers worldwide; to date, students have completed co-ops in 71 countries.

The rankings are based on experiential learning opportunities, with data from the American Bar Association and individual schools.

preLaw/The National Jurist notes that Northeastern is #1 for practical training, “... thanks in part to its innovative Cooperative Legal Education Program, which guarantees students a full year of practical training.” 

“I am honored that the National Jurist recognizes the tremendous exposure and work our students do in the field,” said Professor Margo Lindauer ’07, director of the law school’s Domestic Violence Institute and Domestic Violence ClinicAs the director of the domestic violence institute and clinic, it is my goal to serve our community and help students find their lawyering identities. Students work one on one with survivors of intimate partner violence and have to make real decisions about professional identity, strategy, court submissions, evidence gathering and litigation preparation.”

In addition, Northeastern received an A grade for its intellectual property program.
