Early Decision

The School of Law offers a binding early decision program to students whose first choice is Northeastern. All early decision applicants who are admitted through the binding ED process and begin the three-year JD program in Fall 2021 are guaranteed a minimum merit scholarship totaling $30,000 ($10,000 per year for each of the three years*). 

Applicants must sign a form to confirm their intent is to apply early decision and not early action, and if granted admission, will immediately withdraw all outstanding applications. Students who apply early decision receive a decision by December 31. In order to be reviewed for early decision, applications must be received by December 1. The last LSAT accepted is November. Admitted students will be required to submit an enrollment deposit by January 15.

To apply early decision, submit the following:

  • Application by December 1
  • Early Decision Certification Form
  • Résumé
  • Personal statement
  • Current CAS report that includes LSAT score(s) (no more than 5 years old), one letter of recommendation, and all required transcripts

There is no application fee for any application.

*Annual scholarships are credited toward tuition in equal installments for each term that you are billed by the School of Law. Adjustments to patterns of attendance and/or graduation date may impact your billing and scholarship amounts. You must consult with the Financial Aid office if you make any adjustments to your program or pattern of attendance. 


Early Action

The School of Law offers an early action deadline to students who have taken the LSAT by December 1. Under this option, students are indicating Northeastern University School of Law is one of their top choices and would like a quicker turn around time for the admission decision. Students who apply early action receive a decision by mid-February. In order to be reviewed for early action, applications must be received by December 1. The last LSAT accepted is November.

  • Personal statement
  • Current CAS report that includes LSAT score(s) (no more than 5 years old), one letter of recommendation, and all required transcripts

There is no application fee for any application.


Regular Decision

Applicants who complete applications by the March 1 regular decision deadline receive a decision by mid-April. Applicants must take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) no later than February. Students are welcome to submit applications after March 1. Those applications received after the March 1 deadline will be reviewed on a space-available basis throughout the spring and summer. 

To apply, submit the following:

  • Personal statement
  • Current CAS report that includes LSAT score(s) (no more than 5 years old), one letter of recommendation, and all required transcripts
