The Executive LLM is designed to meet the needs of working professionals who want a program that is compatible with your busy lives. Combining two, three-month academic terms on our Boston campus with a flexible schedule of online study, the Executive LLM allows you to master the complexities of US law at a pace that works for you. Executive LLM students have the same access to our distinguished faculty as traditional LLM students and have the same opportunity to take courses in a wide variety of timely and challenging practice areas, including health policy, human rights, international business law, and law and economic development.

Application Process

Applicants may apply directly or via LSAC. For more information please visit the “How to Apply” section of our website.

The Executive LLM begins in the fall with one quarter of coursework on our campus in Boston. That in-person experience is followed by online coursework that is offered on a rolling schedule throughout the year. After completing the online coursework, Executive LLM students return to campus for a second quarter. Students in the Executive LLM have up to 24 months to complete all the degree requirements.

Applicants residing outside the United States of America should note:

  • Certain degree programs may not be recognized by institutions in your country.

  • Compliance with any applicable local taxes or regulations is your sole responsibility.

Only a small minority of US states permit foreign-educated applicants (i.e., those without a US JD) to take the state bar examination, and each state has its own particular requirements. With few exceptions, the states that do permit foreign-educated applicants who have earned a US LLM to sit for the bar examination do not accept graduates of LLM programs that include online coursework. Accordingly, graduates of the Executive LLM program are advised that they may not qualify to take a US bar examination or to practice law in the US.
