New and the latest versions of software are now available to the Northeastern community in ITS-managed labs, on Faculty/Staff Northeastern-managed computers and for local install. Software availability is based on the Fall 2015 image.
If you are a faculty or staff member on a managed computer and are not seeing the latest software in Start or Software Center on Windows, or in Applications or Self Service on Mac, you may want to consider having your machine reimaged. You can do this by contacting the ITS Service Desk at 617.373.4357 (xHELP) or email@example.com.

OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) standard Mac image
ITS now has an OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) standard Mac image for Northeastern-managed computers. The benefit of a standard image is that ITS tests out the operating system with software used at Northeastern to ensure everything works properly with our systems. This image includes Microsoft Office 2011 (The enterprise version for 2016 is not yet available), Acrobat Pro DC, Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Remote Desktop, PaloAlto Global Protect (VPN software), GarageBand, iMovie, iPhoto, Keynote, Pages, and Numbers,
To upgrade to this new image, please call the ITS Service Desk at 617.373.4357 (xHELP) to make a desktop appointment, and learn the necessary steps involved in upgrading, including backing up your computer. Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 12.1.5
The latest version of the antivirus solution is compatible with Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, and Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), and 10.9 (Mavericks) and 10.10 (Yosemite). NOTE: This version is not compatible with Windows 10.

Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN Client 2.3.1
This update to the VPN client, which allows access to Northeastern resources when off-campus, will expand compatibility to include Windows 10.
Windows 10 Education
The Education edition of Microsoft’s new operating system is now available. This version provides Enterprise edition management features that are not in the Home edition available to individuals directly from Microsoft. See this Microsoft comparison page to determine whether you need the Education edition.
- Windows – Available for all students, faculty, and staff through the Free and Discounted Software link on the myNEU portal. This access is provided through Northeastern license with Microsoft, administered by Kivuto. Students can download it for free. Faculty/staff can download it for a significantly discounted price.
- Mac – Available for all students, faculty, and staff (running a partitioned or virtual environment) through the Free and Discounted Software link on the myNEU portal. This access is provided through Northeastern license with Microsoft, administered by Kivuto. NOTE: To use the third-party vendor’s system on a Mac, the supported browser is Safari. Students can download it for free. Faculty/staff can download it for a significantly discounted price.
SPSS – Now available to students for local install
For the first time, students are now able to download and use SPSS on personal machines. Currently SPSS 22 is available for both Windows and Mac on myNEU, under Software Downloads. When you download the installer be sure to read (or save) the information in the Read Me dialogue box that appears before the download begins. This text contains installation instructions and the license code which is required to authorize the software. The SPSS license code lasts one year, and expires on 8/31/2016, after which you will need to enter a new code in order to continue using the software.
