MATLAB

BGU14MODEL2matlab-logoMATLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment that lets you focus on your course work and applications, rather than on programming details. It enables you to solve many numerical problems in a fraction of the time it takes to write a program in a lower-level language such as Java, C, C++, or Fortran. You can also use MATLAB to analyze and visualize data using automation capabilities, thereby avoiding the manual repetition. A vast library of prebuilt toolboxes lets you get started right away with algorithms essential to your domain. All Matlab toolboxes are accessible to Northeastern.

NOTE: Complimentary training is now available to all Faculty, Staff and Students under the university’s MathWorks Campus-wide License Agreement. In addition, Northeastern has an on-site teaching assistant (TA) who serves as a resource for students who need help with research and homework (see Support and Training for more details).

Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux

Vendor Information: MathWorks

Support

For technical support (including installation and activation help) call MathWorks Technical Support: 508-647-7000 Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. ET.

There is a teaching assistant (TA) to help Northeastern students with MATLAB and related toolboxes. The Northeastern MathWorks TA can be contacted via email: MathWorksHelp@neu.edu.

An introductory MATLAB tutorial is offered once per semester and a tutorial on the Parallel Computing Toolbox is offered every Spring term. Students can self-enroll in the MATLAB Help and Mentoring site on NEU Blackboard. Information on office hours as well as other resources and links about MATLAB and related toolboxes is available on the Blackboard site.
