The ITS website is ready for its close up

Just in time for fall classes, our website has undergone a transformation designed to make interacting with ITS easier than ever before. Check it out and don’t forget to bookmark

The first thing you will probably notice is that we’ve made it simple to find the services that are tailored to your needs: on the homepage just click on the box at the left that’s for you. Whether you are a student, a faculty member or university staff, this audience view highlights the top services that ITS provides for your group. When you click on a service – dive a little deeper into what it’s about and how to get started – you’ll see that if multiple groups use the same service, we’ve also broken out your information on the page.

We haven’t forgotten everyone who knows just what they’re looking for, though. On the home page are the icons to browse services by category, whether you need to know more about email (Communications & Collaboration), Northeastern’s wireless access (Networks & Storage) or more. For landing pages, you can check out the Services & Resources by category or by audience from the menu bar.

To give you as much help as possible, most services come now with FAQs and How To’s linked there on the service page. Those can also be found by category through the Get Help dropdown on the menu bar, along with a glossary of common ITS and technology terms. For more audience-specific help, we’ve created Get Started guides for all members of the university community, and the dropdown for those is up there on the menu, too. And we’ve set up the site to make it much easier to find anything you need using the search feature at the top right of every page.

Other highlights on the new home page:

  • A rotation of the current top announcements guides and services.
  • System Status dashboard, a quick and colorful way to see what’s up, what’s down, and what scheduled outages are coming.
  • Popular links, which will take you right to the myNEU portal, the undergraduate day and CPS Blackboard portals, and more.
  • The ITS@Northeastern Blog, which announces and provides in-depth information on new services or big changes in current services.
  • ITS Tweets, a source for info, tips and interesting links about technology at Northeastern.

The menu also holds links to policies regarding use of technology at Northeastern, guidance for safe computing through the SecureNU portal, and information about ITS itself. And, of course, across the site is the reminder to contact the ITS Service Desk at 617.373.4357 (xHELP) if you have any technology questions or issues.

So take some time to explore. Maybe you’ll learn more or get a helpful tip about a service you already knew existed. Or you could discover that there is a service you didn’t know we offered.
