About Kara

Kara Braciale is a visual artist and curator whose work plays with language and modes of translation to triangulate the location of meaning in a work of art. Her recent work involves the translation of text into binary code to generate grid-based visualizations of text.  She is currently working on a project called Labor based on the English text translation of Karl Marx’s Das Kapital.  She has exhibited the Labor project at Regina Rex gallery in NY and has shown her work at SOFA Gallery in Austin, TX, Medicine Wheel Gallery in Boston, MA and Lisa Boyle Gallery in Chicago, IL.

She is also the co-founder and co-Director of Proof Gallery, a 501(c)3 exhibition space located in South Boston.  Since 2007, Proof Gallery has been a venue for emerging and established artists to propose and mount group exhibitions and solo shows with an emphasis on Boston area artists.  The annual invitational group show Boston Does Boston highlights a cross section of artistic production in the area.
