Print Management

About Printing at Northeastern and the Free Print Allowance Program

Students, faculty and staff have $120 of printing allowance on campus as part of the Free Print Allowance Program. Printing is directed to an ITS virtual print queue which is accessible from numerous ITS self-service printers. All print jobs, whether sent from an ITS computer lab or from your own laptop/desktop (using the print driver) will be available to print for 24 hours.

There are two ways to utilize the free print allowance program

(Log in to and search myKnowledge by using free+print for more detailed information.)

1. Go to an ITS-managed lab.

  • Snell Library: InfoCommons I and II (including Quick Print stations, and Digital Media Commons on the second floor
  • 54 Dodge Hall

Log onto one of the computers in the lab:

  • Students must use their myNEU username and password.
  • Faculty and Staff who have a student myNEU account MUST use that rather than their faculty/staff account.
  • Faculty and Staff who do not have student accounts should use their NUnet username and password.

2. Print from your own computer.

  • Download the Virtual Print Client software from the Software Downloads area of myNEU. (See directions on how to install the Virtual Print Client for more information.
  • When you are ready to print, select the appropriate printer queue from the list of available printers. You will then need to type in your myNEU username:
    • Students must use their myNEU username and password.
    • Faculty and Staff who have a student myNEU account MUST use that rather than their faculty/staff account.
    • Faculty and Staff who do not have student accounts should use their NUnet username and password.

How to print

After selecting the printer, you will need to give each print job a name, which will appear on the card swipe screen when you go to the print.

  1. Locate a printer associated with the queue you selected for the print job.
  2. Swipe your Husky Card. Select the job you wish to print. Jobs must be printed individually.
  3. The screen will display the total cost, and your current balance. Tap Print.
  4. Collect your print job and exit the screen. Your print-outs will appear promptly on the printer next to the card swipe.

NOTE: If your print request originates from your personal computer using the Virtual Print Client, you will need to enter your myNEU username in the set-up screen.
