Who Gets a Husky Card?

To determine whether or not you qualify for a Northeastern Husky Card, please view the categories below. If you do not fit into one of these categories but believe you are eligible for a Husky Card, please send us an email at huskycard@northeastern.edu.

You must have a valid NU ID number in order to receive a Husky Card. If you do not have a Northeastern ID number, you must go through the sponsored account process. Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID with you when picking up your Husky Card to confirm your account.

Full and part-time students
  • All full and part-time students are eligible for a Northeastern Husky Card.
  • The Student Husky Card will remain inactive until the student is actively enrolled in classes at the university. Husky Cards remain active during any term the student is enrolled in classes or co-op.
  • Visiting and exchange students will be eligible for a Husky Card once processed by the Office of Global Services and enrolled in coursework. Visiting students completing research only must be enrolled in placeholder courses or must obtain a Sponsored Account.
Full-time faculty/staff
  • All current full-time faculty and staff at the university are eligible for a Faculty/Staff Husky Card and will automatically be placed into the Husky Card system at the time of their start date.
  • The cards will remain active until you are no longer working at the university.
Alumni
  • Former students, who graduate from Northeastern University with a degree are eligible for an Alumni Husky Card.
  • Please visit 4 Speare Commons during our business hours to receive your alumni card.
  • A government-issued photo ID is required. If you have graduated more than 15 years ago and/or your name has changed, please email huskycard@northeastern.edu in advance to locate and migrate your account from legacy systems.
Retirees
  • All retirees from Northeastern University are eligible for a Husky Card.
  • Please email huskycard@northeastern.edu so we can verify your status with Human Resources Office.
  • Once confirmation has been received, we invite you to visit 4 Speare Commons during our business hours to receive your retiree card.
Part-time faculty/staff
  • Part-time faculty and staff are eligible for a Husky Card.
  • Part-time employees must be hired through Human Resources in order to be placed into the Husky Card system at the time of their start date.
  • For any part-time employee who is not hired through Human Resources, a sponsored account must be processed prior to receiving a Husky Card.
Research Assistants/Visiting Scholars
  • Research Assistants and Visiting Scholars are eligible for a Husky Card but are not automatically placed into the Husky Card system.
  • A sponsored account must be processed prior to receiving a Husky Card.
Contractors
  • Contractors are eligible for a Husky Card but are not automatically placed into the Husky Card system.
  • A sponsored account must be processed prior to receiving a Husky Card.
Spouse/Partner
  • Spouses/partners/ dependents of full-time staff members may be eligible for a Husky Card if: the employee lives in University Housing, or a paid recreation services membership is obtained for the dependent.
  • Dependent Husky Cards must first be approved through the residential employee’s department and Husky Card Services. Recreation services spouse/ partner/ dependent Husky Cards may be issued after approval, payment, and generation of an NUID number.
  • Other access to campus resources/ facilities is not available outside of these groups.
