The Provost’s Office

Northeastern is committed to supporting and enhancing faculty teaching and research. In addition to the resources provided by your department chair and college dean, there are many university-wide resources with which we encourage you to become acquainted. The Office of the Provost is responsible for the overall quality of teaching, scholarship, and research at the University. As you begin your career at Northeastern, we encourage you to become familiar with several of the programs and resources which reside in the Provost’s Office:

The Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning through Research, headed by Dr. Cigdem P. Talgar., supports administrators, faculty, staff, and students in their efforts to continue to evolve innovative programs that support students’ learning and development. ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development oversees, creates, and assesses faculty development programs while serving as a resource to interested parties on the Northeastern University campus.  ADVANCE assists faculty and administrators in accomplishing departmental, college, and university goals with respect to faculty recruitment, retention, mentoring, and advancement.

Information Systems for Faculty

In addition, Northeastern has many information systems to support research and teaching; the majority are accessed through your myNortheastern account. Below you will find a description of myNortheastern, a brief description of some of the information systems you can access through myNortheastern, and instructions about how to use the tools. MyNortheastern is Northeastern’s electronic gateway that connects you with a wide-range of university systems such as grades and transcripts, confidentiality training, electronic rosters, and course evaluations. In addition, your payroll and personal information are accessed through myNortheastern. It is your responsibility to maintain accurate personal information such as campus address, home address, mail-stop, and emergency contact information. Academic Technology Services

Academic Technology Services (ATS) (www.ats.neu.edu) offers consultation and support to faculty who are creating online content or incorporating flipped classroom techniques into their on-ground courses. ATS maintains and administers University-wide software, tools, and services that support teaching and learning such as Blackboard, Blackboard Collaborate, TurningPoint, Tegrity, Captivate, Articulate, and Adobe Presenter. We also provide digital media technology services to help faculty create engaging and multimodal content. ATS staff provides walk-in support, scheduled consultation, and training in various formats to help faculty understand the functionality and application of teaching and learning technologies.
