Jorge Caraballo Cordovez, a graduate student in Northeastern’s Media Innovation program, recently received a 2016 Google News Lab Fellowship to work at the tech company’s accelerator for media startups, Matter.
Caraballo, MA’17, was one of eight winners selected for the 10-week program, standing out among a group of more than 1,800 applicants. Throughout the fellowship—which begins in mid-June and runs through August—he’ll work alongside Matter’s first New York City cohort of startups, developing content for the accelerator’s website and social media channels.
A Fulbright Scholarship winner, Caraballo chose Northeastern to pursue his master’s degree “because of the opportunity to acquire the digital storytelling skills journalists need to succeed in the 21st century.”
