
Experience:
Joe McNabb is a full-time faculty member in the Graduate School of Education. Prior to joining the faculty, he completed an 11-year term as president of Labouré College. This position followed a 17-year tenure as professor and dean of faculty. He served as a commissioner, a six-year term, on the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)-Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Before serving as commissioner, he chaired, or served as a site visitor, for many accreditation teams throughout the United States including in in the New England area, and several in Europe. He has also served on numerous boards including teaching hospitals, community educational agencies, and several nonprofit organizations.
He teaches the Legal Environment of Higher Education among other courses. He also serves on several committees and task forces for the Doctor of Education program including the admission committee, the academic review committee, the faculty screening committee, as well as college-wide committees including the Faculty Fund. He has served as a member of the Agenda Committee on the Faculty Academic Council of the College of Professional Studies and as a member of the Faculty Review and Promotion Committee.
His professional service includes his work as federal case reporter for the School Law Reporter, a publication of the Education Law Association. In that role, he covers and reports on court cases related to faculty employment, academic affairs, student conduct, and finances in higher education. Among other professional services, he conducts proposal reviews for the Association for the Study of Higher Education, reviews qualitative research texts for Sage Publication, conducts peer-review of articles for publication in academic journals, and serves on the advisory committee of the Accreditation Commission of Midwifery Education. He earned his undergraduate degree at Boston University and completed doctoral training at Northeastern University.
