Experience:
Edward J. Barr’s background spans the intelligence, legal, international business, and military sectors. He worked as an attorney in Washington, D.C., before joining the Central Intelligence Agency, where he served as an operations officer. He departed the CIA for private practice and soon after September 11, 2001, he was recalled to active duty in the Marine Corps. Barr served throughout Southeast Asia and the Middle East and was the U.S. Central Command’s senior counterintelligence and human intelligence officer, responsible for intelligence operations in 27 countries. He has served as a subject matter expert (SME) on “insider threat” projects for the Department of Defense as well as serving with FBI Tampa Division’s Foreign Counterintelligence Squad. He has worked with all 17 members of the U.S. intelligence community as well as most NATO nations. He continues to conduct training and consult on counterintelligence and HUMINT matters for public- and private-sector clients.
Barr completed his BA at Providence College and his MA in international affairs and JD from George Washington University. He also is a graduate of the Marine Corps University Command and Staff College.
