Amanda Reeser Lawrence is an architectural historian, theorist, editor, and architect.

Lawrence’s published books include: James Stirling: Revisionary Modernist (Yale University Press, 2013); Terms of Appropriation,(Routledge 2017), co-edited with Ana Miljacki; and Agenda: The Official Catalogue of the 2014 Architecture Biennale in Venice, co-edited with Ana Miljacki, Eva Franch I Gilabert, and Ashley Schafer. Her forthcoming manuscript, The Architecture of Influence: Copies and Originals in the Twentieth-Century, offers a deep theoretical and historical dive into the concepts and commonalities that underlie the myriad ways in which modern architects draw from and rearrange the past.

She is founding co-editor of the architectural journal PraxisA Journal of Writing + Building, an award-winning journal of contemporary architecture of the Americas founded in 1999. Praxis has been funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts, and the New York State Council on the Arts, has staged conferences and events with PS1 MoMA, the Whitney Museum, the Boston Society of Architects, and the Skyscraper Museum in New York.

Her scholarship has been supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Graham Foundation, the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art, and the Graduate Society at Harvard University.

At Northeastern, Lawrence has served as the Graduate Program Coordinator, Undergraduate Program Coordinator, and oversaw the creation and implementation of the BS in Architectural Studies degree, for which she served as coordinator for four years. Lawrence has taught at the University of California at Berkeley, MIT, and Harvard University. She received her PhD in architectural history and theory from Harvard University, her Master of Architecture from Columbia University and her BA Summa Cum Laude from Princeton University.
