Speaker: Emel Bulat, Director of Technology and Business Strategy, Textron Systems

Title: “Building effective networks: a key to success”

Emel Bulat is Director of Emerging Technology at Textron Systems Corporation (TSC), one of only 4 women at or above the “Director” level in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics fields at TSC. She directs the scouting activities for state-of-the-art technologies that fill capabilities gaps defined by various business lines during the strategic planning process. She is involved with the National Science Foundation, DARPA, the National Academies, and actively supports initiatives to increase the numbers of females in the engineering workforce. Ms. Bulat previously worked in the telecommunications and semiconductor industries. She holds BS, MS in Chemistry & an MBA, has 10 US patents and co-authored 17 technical and 2 business journal papers.

The National Academy of Engineering awarded the Gordon Institute of Engineering Leadership the prestigious 2015 Bernard M. Gordon Prize for Innovation in Engineering and Technology Education.
