Northeastern University is committed to the success of our faculty and provides faculty members with many avenues for connecting with formal and informal mentorship. Tenure-track faculty members in all of Northeastern’s academic departments and schools are formally connected with senior faculty members through mentoring programs that range from one-to-one relations to mentoring committees of senior faculty. In some colleges and departments, tenure-track faculty members are also invited to identify senior faculty members at other universities as external mentors.
The Provost’s office sponsors mentoring events open to all tenure-track faculty, including the annual orientation for new faculty members; workshops on the tenure and promotion process and on University resources for teaching and research; and end-of-term receptions for assistant professors, their mentors, department chairs, and deans. Northeastern’s ADVANCE program offers workshops and holds monthly lunch discussions on topics of interest to faculty. In addition, the Office of Research has a series of workshops that focus on establishing a research program.
